I've been wondering why the Pirates suck for many years now, bad management? Bad Scouting? The fact they have 2 other successful sporting franchises in the same town?

They trade their best players which i guess is money related, how long will they hold on to the likes of Jones and McCutheon?

Also they've been sucking for so long yet rarely any of their young players come through and make a big impact.

Least the Royals have Greinke, Soria, Butler and Gordon to build around, the Pirates have nobody really...i was just being generous mentioning McCutch and Jones.

For now until these guys leave as FAs or are traded like KC has done previously.

I remember when they had Appier, Dye, Damon and Beltran in KC. Hopefully this time they take better advantage of the talent they have but after watching them give Jason Kendall a 2 year deal in the offseason and trade previously for guys like Betancourt/Crisp, I have my doubts.

The fact that they have the luxury of playing in the national league makes their struggles all the more bind-moggling. BTW, you've reminded me to look over the Pirates' 1st round selection history for the past several years - I always get kicks out of that

Did anyone see poor Chris Jakubauskus take a comebacker off the melon? You can hear vividly the sound of the ball hitting his skull, and he was coughing up blood afterward.
