this is surprising considering his father's comments..but Thon's getting 1st round money for a 5th rounder?  well done AA

he got 1st round money because Thon didn't like how the jays treated his son. so the jays had to pay extra to sign him. and Thon thought his son is first round talent

By all counts, few people thought Thon was actually a 1st round talent.  But the Jays obviously were very high on him.

Art Charles (20th Rd) played his first game tonight.  Turns out he's a 1B, not a pitcher.

Yup, adding it.  We have a couple other deals in place that just haven't been announced.

If Thon doesn't like how the Jays treated his son he must be really pissed at the other 29 teams for passing on him 5 times. I'm all for giving 1st round $ to 1st round talent wherever he's drafted (and if it's in the 5th round well done AA) but to claim your son is a 1st rounder when he fell to the 5th and then be pissed at the only team that actually drafted him..... come on.

from what i read dickie thon was 1st round material, but his commitment to a university/college program scared teams off.

Dickie Thon was a consensus supplemental pick, early 2nd rounder.

Mitchell Taylor's bonus is 367,500.  Highest bonus by any player post-5th round so far.

Nicolino signs, another above-slot bonus. Seems Rogers can be tructed when they say they'll spend money when they're asked for it.

Very good. Over slot money and Latin signings. I like the AA regime.

Myles Jaye is the only signing so far today.  Pretty surprising.  Meanwhile, the Red Sox are signing pretty much anyone and everyone.
