I've seen several jounalists saying that there will just be glut of signings announced closer to the deadline because MLB doesn't  want any over slot signings announced early.

Yes.  But the dominoes have been falling all day. An MLB deal has already been announced for Grandal.

I'd like to hear what he has to say in the conference call.

Apparently the conference calls is being delayed.

And in flashback to last year Jake Eliopoulos went unsigned again.

No surprised this year, because Elio's stock dropped so much.

He might never even get signed again to be honest.

Logan Ehlers passed up on $800k.

According to the Blue Jays press release, we have signed 33.  But by BaseballAmerica's count, I would have 34 on my list...

Fine work but AA and his staff this year. They said they were willing to go over slot and they backed it up. Kudos!!

Are there any picks who you guys are disappointed in for not being signed by the Jays?

Several.  But they were longshots anyway so you can't be too upset.

Ehlers
Westlake
Marlowe
Shreve
Bryant
Vander Tuig
Arce

An interesting note.  Barrett Loux to be granted Free Agency on September 1st and Arizona is awarded a compensatory pick for the 2011 draft.

2 valid questions have been raised...

1. Will agents use this loophole as a way to try to get their clients Free Agency in the future?
2. What if Arizona signs him on September 1st.  Do they still get their comp pick?  We can assume no......but never assume.

Why would he be granted free agency?

He was granted free agency because he reached a deal with the Diamondbacks, then a month ago he failed his physical, and because of the rules, Loux would've been unable to play and then have to enter the draft next year.  So this is mainly based on the fact he has health issues, but still wants to play baseball.  So they figure this is a fair agreement to allow someone a chance at his dream.

So now I'm hearing that both Adaric Kelly and Seth Conner signed, which would bring the total to 36, not the 33 announced by AA.

Huh.

Getting Conner is awesome, since he has raw power and they believe he will add much more muscle to his frame.  We need a couple guys like that to take chances on.

BA has Seth Connor updated in their database signing for $100K...but doesn't show Kelly.  I don't think that one got done...although the report came from a BA guy as a $250K signing.  I'm guessing they couldn't sneak it in before the deadline.

But even Kelly has been interviewed and said he was going to be playing for the Jays.

Odd.  Well...if it's true then that would be a positive.  I don't know much about him but $250K seems like above slot to me.  Must have some reasonable potential.

So BAs database does confirm both signings now, but it also confirms that Jay Johnson never ended up signing.  I wonder why he was bolded all summer long then.
