Done deal (Keith Law).

$2.8M

Another high ceiling arm.  Love it.

This is the same guy that had some "MLB execs" "mad" at AA for trying to work out a deal before July 1st right?

Really nice pickup.  The Jays have about 300 pitchers though and still have a fairly weak offensive prospect pool.

Rumors that AA is going after 2 other IFA pitchers

Luis Heredia, RHP: There are a couple other names in Mexico that could eventually be talked about in the upper tier of this International class, but right now the lone guy is Heredia. He has a live arm and is a projectable right-hander who is looking like a definite seven-figure guy. He is a little trickier to sign than most July 2 players because his team in Mexico owns his rights, so it will be interesting to see how that unfolds. Heredia is right behind Adonis Cardona in terms of top pitching talent in this class.

Luis Abad, RHP: In a usually crowded class of a high upside arms, Abad is among the most intriguing. He has a live arm and very good fastball movement.

So many pitching prospects, I don't wonder if AA is playing a new long term game of loading up on one thing or the other (pitching or hitting) in this case pitching, then trading away prospects for top notch offensive players/prospects as needed. Pitching always, always, always seems to be in demand, if that's his ultimate plan, it might be a good one. If it's not his plan, uh, what are we gonna do with all these pitchers? lol

•The Blue Jays have been tied to Gabriel Cenas, a Venezuelan third baseman and Pedro Perez, a Colombian third baseman, according to Law.
•They are also in on Eskarlin Vazquez, a Dominican outfielder who has captured the Giants’ attention. Law predicts Vazquez will get one of the summer’s top bonuses.

The word Heredia is that the Jays and Pirates are the odds on favourite.  The bonus will likely be pushing $3M.  He's already 6'5", but is thin...he's got a projectable arm that's already hitting the low 90's.

Another thing with Heredia is that he's still only 15 and can't sign until he turns 16 on August 16th...so we still won't know for a bit what happens with him.
