Sean Shoffit up in Auburn tonight. Anyone tell me much about him as converts from an outfielder to a pitcher?

Yeah i'm also interested in Shoffit.

Has anybody noticed Aherns' numbers in Lasing, i know he got demoted but he's been swinging a hot bat since he got sent down, good for him.

Will never happen but would love to see Maestro or Thames getting a September call up, honestly who wants to see Wise over one of these guys.

when Ahern got sent down, Fasano was quoted as saying "he's back playing against kids his own age". was he promoted too soon?

Probably, especially given his performance, he got far too high in the minors given his overall performance to date.  He has talent, and he is NOT a bust already, he's too young for his career to be over/set in stone as a career minor leaguer.  A few things probably play into his recent play:

1 - Sal Fasano is probably going to be a really good manager, based on early results as a coach and his career as a player and general nature as a person
2 - Playing against his own age group can do wonders for a player.  AA was way beyond Ahrens abilities when the pitchers are really good and a few times a week you are probably facing a guy who is at least going to get a cup of coffee or two in the majors sooner than later.
3 - The demotion serves as a motivational tool.  It's one thing to be sent down from the Majors to the Minors where a player might go in a bit of a slump realizing they are back to riding a bus around everywhere with small per diems, and little to no fanfare, but being sent down in the minors can be the type of thing to give you a kick in the pants to right a sinking ship.

Yeah it's a strange one because you look at Justin Jackson who is now probably at the right level in Lansing but with the bat at least doesn't seem to have overly improved from hs time in Dundedin...maybe that Injury last season has something to do with?

Speaking of young infielders, 20 year old Tylor Pastornicky who was part of the Escobar trade is performing very well in AA and i thought was doing very well during his half a season spell for us in Dunedin considering his age, shame to see that potential lead off hitter go (Maybe it was worth it though for Yunel).

Both Ahrens and Jackson have been moved back up to Dunedin. Good for them to experience the playoffs.

Dunedin is looking done. They are down 5-0 to Tampa in the 6th. If they lose it's series over.

Apparently Andy Pettite is taking on the Fisher Cats in Game 2 of their playoff series on a "rehab assignment". Stuff like this just makes my blood boil! These kids didn't work this hard all season to have something like this happen. It hardly seems fair and should be against the rules in minor league playoff games. Make Petitte go throw on the side or pitch a simulated game instead of ruining the kids season ffs!

He was taken out after four at least.  Stewart is looking great with 9Ks so far.  Here's the box score if you wanna follow the game:

The Blue Jays have agreed to terms with 16-year-old Dominican lefthander Jairo Labour for $350,000.

Labour, who is 6-foot-4, 185 pounds, became eligible to sign when the 2010 international signing period opened on July 2, but he developed into a better prospect later and has run his fastball up to 92 mph. Labour, who is from Azua, is a good athlete with a solid delivery and feel for spinning a breaking ball.

Re-emphasis on the Latin America players market one of the best developments since AA took over.
