good luck y'all! we're just happy to have made .500 and 12th! whew! whadda season!
.... Loser.
Hell of a season gentlemen... But now the men have separated from the boys and some real fantasy baseball can take place. Cant wait to see how this one shakes out.
2010 Post Season Preview and 1st round Matchup Breakdowns (Courtesy ESPN.com):
1. Team Adam West (BYE)TAW enters the post season with a 7-4-1 second half matchup record. After a hot start TAW cooled off in the second half of the season. Last years defending champion heads into the playoffs with some question marks in his lineup. There is no doubt his offence is powerful... But it is also very streaky... The offence hit a wall in weeks 19 and 20 combing for just 7 homeruns, 34 runs and 40 rbis. The question is which Cargo, A-Rod and Mark Reynolds will show up.. But make no mistake about it, when this offense is rolling it is nearly unstoppable
The pitching staff is very good, arguably the best in the league. With a 19-2 W/L record and just a 3.46 ERA those categories will be hard pressed to win for any opponent.
2. Saskatchewan Selects (BYE)SSK roll into the playoffs for the third consecutive year after posting a 8-3-1 second half record. This proud franchise has posted a truly incredible .619 winning % over the past 3 regular seasons to take over best win % over a 3 season span. (Previously held by the London Limehounds .606% from 2005-07 seasons) However the Selects Regular season dominance has not carried over to the post season as they have been bounced in the second round for 2 consecutive years. Watch for how they perform early in the week to determine if they have learned or are still dwelling on the disappointment of previous years failures.
Match-up (3) Scorpions vs (6) London Lemon PartyA very intriguing match up as Scorpions boast arguably one of the most powerful offenses this league has ever seen. However in the teams week 13 matchup it was the LLP with the powerful offence sweeping the offensive stat category 6-0. The difference could come in the fact that LLP no longer feature the power combo of Dan Uggla and Jason Bay who combined for 4homeruns and 18rbi's in the week 13 trouncing.
Pick: The underdog by 2.5 points London Lemon Party. Unbeaten in the last 6 weeks and rounding into fine form at the perfect time of the year.Match-up (5) London Limehounds vs (4) Belieb in StiebThese two proud 7 year veterans meet in what will surely be an epic battle of the ages for pride, bragging rights and of course a shot at the OKBJ Holy Grail. The two franchises met once this year and it was hardly watchable... The match up saw BIS destroy the Hounds by a score of 10-2. You can bet your bottom dollar LLH will not underestimate there long time rival this time around.
Pick: The 1.5 point underdog London Limehounds. Despite being around since 04 BJW League I, Manager Darryl has yet to raise the Holy Grail. Although they are not the team they once were (Mid 2000 era) the Limehounds are still a dangerous team and there playoff experience cannot be overlooked. (2005 Champions, 2006 Runner-up)
