How do we draw more people to this site?
« on: May 19, 2009, 12:13:18 PM »
If you ever visit any of the Yankees or Red Sox forums, you will notice how they have tons and tons more members than any Jays forum. Obviously, that is self explanatory since there are way more of them anyways. But the problem is that there is not an official Jays forum (outside of the MLB one).

Along with this one, there is JaysFever and BlueJayWay (which has been abandoned) as well the MLB one, ProSportsDaily, TorontoBlueJaysNews.com and JaysFanz.com as well as some smaller ones.

I think we should try to recruit more people on this forum in order to become a larger community and perhaps eventually even become recognized as the number 1 Jays fan forum on the net. We need to advertise this site more (a google search for Jays forums does not provide any links for this site).

I know that. But there are a lot of them that are unaware of sites such as this one. Or they post on different forums. We should get them to come here instead. I remember when BJW was in its prime about 3-4 years ago, it had 50+ members online consistently.

It takes time.  This site has only been around for about 8 months while its doing quite well now post wise it takes a bit to build up a site. BJW took a good 2.5 years to reach the level it did at its peak.

Best ways to get more people are spread the link around, words of mouth and just be active.

I'd say T-Shirts and when people go to games, they wear the shirt...people would stop and ask you what's the deal with the shirt or see the site on the shirt and check it when they get home...

I've been posting at a couple of hockey boards.  This is the only baseball Forum I really post in.
I know it's not hockey season, but at least the Leafs have a GM that's somewhat respectable and they actually sign their draft picks.

This season has been quite demoralizing for Jays fans...I was hoping the draft would salvage a part of it....light at the end of the tunnel kind of thing.  It's tough to get excited about anything on this team now...Snider, Romero, Cecil, Zep, Hill, Lind...other than that...where are the building blocks?

Alot of apathy right now with the Blue Jays and with them just playing out the string not too much to get excited for. Once the season ends I suspect we'll see a boost with a  JP firing, team sale rumours, potential award winners and of course the typical offseason talk.
