Looks like both our teams went down fast Rounding 3rd, to bad, after the Pats I'd have rooted for the Chiefs as I like Matt Cassell and Scott Pioli. For the Pats, something is wrong with Tom Brady now that wasn't before. Old Tom Brady played average all season, then became a combination of Joe Montana and Troy Aikman in the playoffs. Now he gets on the field and looks dazed, terrified, confused? And for no reason, we beat every single one of these teams in the regular season. On top of that Belichick didn't alter his game plan after the first half when things weren't working, wtf? Belichick was a defensive genius once upon a time and here he couldn't figure out how to beat the Jets zone coverages, even after watching it for two quarters? Well I know one thing from studying history, if you are a world conquering general, like Hannibal Barca, eventually you fight so long someone learns all your tactics and uses them to defeat you, ala Scipio Africanus, who studied Hannibal then slowly destroyed his army with what he learned.
Maybe the Patriots time is definitively over, everyone knows what Belichick is going to do and Brady has for some reason, turned into Peyton Manning in the playoffs. Oh well, can't say I'm unhappy with 10 years of winning and three Super Bowls. Being a fan all the way back to the 80s, one of my first conscious memories in life was my dad and everyone in the house being mad about the Patriots losing. I didn't even understand what was happening as I was so young, but that what was the 1985 Super Bowl. As I grew, I saw them lose more playoff games and another Super Bowl, thinking we'd be Super Bowl losers forever so I will always cherish those wins.
Best memory is this one. That first Patriots Super Bowl win in 2001-2, I was watching it with my dad, when the field goal went through we both stared for a minute, like to make sure it was real. That there wasn't some penalty that was going to end our season like the late 70s teams or dozens of others. When nothing showed up, we jumped up cheering and hugged. He watched that team from 1960, attending games in Fenway Park and Boston College, in the cold aluminum bleachers of the old stadium, losing season after losing season, and finally, he saw them win on what was a miracle field goal kick. I will never, ever, ever forget that moment.
I think it's easy for everyone else to think of the Pats as some giant evil machine, but they do not have the history of the Cowboys or the Steelers or even the Packers, you know, a long history of winning for 30 or 40 years. No, they only have the last 10 years before that they were sad sacks, the "Patsies" as everyone mocked them.
/end rant lol
