newb here

Hey all, glad to be here this forum looks badass. I just came from Blue Jay Fever, which is a far cry from the activity i see here.

I've been a jays fan since age 4 or 5, so about 20 years, but took a hiatus from the team in the late 90's then gained more of an understanding of the game over the past 3-4 years. I make it out to 10-15 games each year and watch at least 100+ start to finish on tv. baseball is my favorite game, soccer is second, then i guess i don't mind hockey. i especially enjoy the more 'scientific' (if you will) aspects of baseball - the fact that there are numbers for almost everything, and to most fans, i hope, these numbers are very useful.

anyway, i am not impressed with AA's first moves. Gonzo is fine as the starting SS, but two years for johnny mac is outrageous. what if the jays get a major league ready SS in a halladay trade? will johnny mac be the backup left fielder and pinch runner extraordinaire again? i would have waited 6 weeks, given johnny mac one year at around 1mil and an option if you were that desperate to have him in his age 37 season in 2011...

hopefully AA has bigger things planned for a Halladay deal because so far he hasn't impressed a lot of us. I'd also love to see him make Scutaro's compensation picks count by following up on his 'promise' to build through the draft and scouting. for the time being I guess we just wait and hope Halladay gets traded for the biggest package possible, not just the best offer at the time.

Hey, welcome to the forums :)  Hope you post lots and make exciting discussions! (I am bad at both).
See the other thread for my views on JMac/Gonzo, I think its a decent, but not a bad at all move.

Welcome! Where is that avatar from? I've seen it before but I don't understand the context of it.
Farnsworth: Start the ship, Leela. Let's just steal the damn radar dish and get back to our own time.
Fry: But- But won't that change history?
Farnsworth: Oh, a lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!
