Watched Shutter Island last week. It was an enjoyable movie.
Farnsworth: Start the ship, Leela. Let's just steal the damn radar dish and get back to our own time.
Fry: But- But won't that change history?
Farnsworth: Oh, a lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!

Saw Toy Story 3 a week or two ago, it was a pretty good movie!  Lots of action surprisingly though I still don't think it can beat the first Toy Story.  I saw it in 3D, and I don't think it was worth the extra cost, I didn't notice really any 3D effects at all though the new projectors do make for a nice on screen picture.

Will probably go see Inception in the next couple of weeks.

Saw Inception on Friday, one of the best movies I've seen this year.

Then saw Salt on Monday, had it figured out pretty early on, but the action was still pretty good.

Saw Inception on Thursday night, was very good!  The music was a bit heavy, but the story was pretty good and the effects good as well.   I would say everyone should see it in theaters.

I finally got around to seeing Inception. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I think it was a good movie, but I wouldn't call it a great one. I went in thinking that it was a more cerebral movie where I had to figure stuff out than it actually was. It certainly raises some interesting ideas and some of the things discussed apparently do have scientific basis. Imo, films like the Matrix, Memento, Dark City, Blade Runner, Donnie Darko, and Rashomon did a better job at pushing me to think about things.

That's kind of how I felt. Inception was good, but they literally explained exactly what they were going to do word for word before the big quad layer dream sequence, didn't really have to think about it. I'm mystified how some people said it confused them? lol. All it requires is listening.

And yes, the Matrix, Dark City, Donnie Darko and I'd throw in Solaris, make you think a lot more about what you are seeing, and then they make you think a long time afterward about them. They leave you, the viewer, to try and form your own ideas about what happened and perhaps several different ideas are right. So, Inception goes one level below these movies for me, good, not great because it wasn't as elaborate or open ended as I imagined it would be.

I've heard it isn't a great movie, but they say it's a fun ride regardless.

That is what I have heard as well. It's short on story but big on action.

I'll test out the spoiler tags.

I watched the Boys from Brazil over the weekend.

I thought it was a decent movie, but not really meriting the Oscar consideration that it got. The cast was certainly top notch (Peck and Olivier), the plot and storytelling had things going for it, but ultimately I never really felt that the bad guys had a realistic shot at succeeding.

Spoiler for Hiden:
The plot revolves around Dr. Mengele's plan to try replicate the same conditions that Hitler experience growing up in the clones that he has created (by killing their adoptive fathers). At the start your given bits of information and you're trying to wrap head around what the plot could actually be. I did enjoy the detective work that the audience had to do. I also like how not everything goes the bad guys way from start to close to the end. It's becomes a bit too formulaic when everything goes right for them for the first 4/5th of the movie and then the bottom falls out for them and the good guys win. But, like I said, the impression that the bad guys never really had a shot takes away from the movie overall.

Overall: 6.5/10

I think for my next movie, I'll re-watch Fritz Lang's M. I liked it the first time that I saw it and apparently the Blu-ray version of it has it close to how it was originally released and gives it a little different field.

yeah i saw it on monday.  it's pretty good... entertaining... it's hard to believe it's the "movie of the year" though.  There has been, and will be better.  but it was quite good.

Saw Little Fockers tonight, pretty funny and better then most comedies out there.

Anyone wanna see The Kings Speech? It's apparently gonna sweep the big award show over in the states but it looks like a movie i'd leave on in the background while i'm napping.

Saw Black Swan a week or two ago with the fiance, it was an excellent movie. After it ended, I told her it was "like Fight Club for you!" Basically revolves around a ballerina (Natalie Portman) who is trampled on by everyone constantly including in the creepy relationship with her mother. She goes insane after thinking another ballerina is after her star role, starts hallucinating an entire world and interactions with people only to find it was herself and mostly in her head. I liked it, but I indicated it was "Fight Club" for my fiance because she (my fiance) was a ballerina previously and it has a more feminine bend to it (obviously) then Fight Club but it ultimately has the same kind of story idea (of course it is different in many ways and it's own story entirely). Either way, good film making that makes you think back and try to figure out what was reality and what wasn't, even moreso than Inception did.
