There was really so much to digest from the finale.
They finally quasi-revealed the statue. It's Taweret, the goddess of fertility, which makes a whole lot of sense with this being Lost and all of the issues with birth on the island. It's another Egyptian nod, which is only solidifying the theory that this is indeed the work of a "lost" civilization.
Jacob is pretty much awesome. I was really hoping this wasn't going to be the whole Wizard of Oz type deal where they go on this journey to meet Jacob and he turns out to be a sham. That opening scene between him and Black Shirt was one of the best of the entire series. Jacob, the statue, his (im)mortal enemy, the Black Rock ship likely containing Richard Alpert, some serious philosophical insight and the casual coolness of that dude's delivery of the "Do you know how badly I want to kill you" line made me have a serious lostgasm.
I also loved the delivery of the final few scenes. I could have done without the elongated "don't let go" deal with Juliet being sucked into the hole, but I'm also not a fan of Sawyer. After five seasons of the show fading to black with white Lost text, they switch it all up, going to white with black letters. Substantial? You betcha. As white vs. black/evil vs. good is the most common thread that holds this series together, it could also foreshadow the results of the nuke being set off by Juliet. In the past, any time someone has been transported to a different period of time, a flash of white accompanies it. That, paired with the fact that Jacob's last words were "They're here" is all but guaranteeing that the '77 crew (sans Juliet, at least for the first few episodes I'm sure) are back at 2007.
It sucks having to wait this long for next season. I really wish I could sleep for multiple months at a time.
