The what are you listening to thread
« on: October 03, 2008, 12:42:12 PM »
I always liked this one on the old site cause it gave me insights into music I might be missing out on.

What is everyone listening to?

Put There By The Land by Great Lake Swimmers.

I'm on a Joel Plaskett kick recently as well.  That man rocks with the best of them.

I love Great Lake Swimmers. And Plaskett is Can-Rock at it's finest. I'm listening to the new Blitzen Trapper and Land of Talk albums as of late, right now I'm listening to the soothing sounds of Dick Stockton, Ron Darling and Tony Gwynn.

Yeah man.  I didn't really get into Great Lake Swimmers until they had this one song on an episode of Weeds that really hooked me.  I ended up buying Ongiara and working my way back in their catalog.

Plaskett's recordings are only transcended by his live show.  I caught him out in Alberta this summer and was blown away.  He's a real killer when wielding a microphone.

I am, however, desperate for new music.  I have zero decent torrent sites that offer up a good variety of album so I'm limited to whatever mixtapes I can download from random webpages and blogs.  Pretty crappy.

I normally turn to btjunkie for music, it's not perfect, but it's the best I've got since oink went down. I'm hoping to get down to Toronto early enough this Friday to catch the Dears, I'm really looking forward to their new album.

Sure Can Start - Two Hours Traffic

I'm loving CBC Radio 3's website.  They have an assload of Canadian rock that you can cut and paste and form your own unlimited playlist.  I've been rocking it for the past week and it's doing me well.  They also have several spotlights, premade playlists and exclusive live sessions that you can really benefit from if you're trying to find something new.
