game 131 defense letting them down
« on: August 30, 2010, 06:06:09 PM »
in progress and on regular sportsnet

This isn't an attack on Cito as he surely isn't the only manager to make this kind of mistake but why, WHY did he have to name John McDonald his everyday 3rd basemen while E5 is out.  Since Escobar is also hurt McCoy is playing SS and missed a play Mac would have had no problem.  Then Pena hits a 3 run home run.  If he hadn't named Mac the 3rd basemen he could have gone with the best defensive alignment of the current available utility players and avoided those 3 runs.

Heck shouldn't matter if he named him or not. Not like they stuck to their plan to give JPA the majority of the starts while Buck is out.

Also Cito can't do much about that.  The SS HAS to hit 2nd in his order and thus McCoy hits 2nd while Snider hits 9th.

He probably writes his line up cards in pen and you just can't erase pen.

McDonald 2 errors tonight and Snider 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Go CITO!

Looking at that lineup - which is one of the worst possible combinations Cito could've used, I'm almost glad I missed the game.
