Morrow to be shut down after next start
« on: August 29, 2010, 11:51:44 AM »
According to Jeff Blair and John Lott on twitter.

Makes sense. He's thrown 143.1 innings this year. He threw 124 combined in the minors and majors last year. Fits in with their '30 innings more than the last year philosophy.

Very good move. No reason to risk future gains for short term success.

Smart move by the Jays. Morrow has already reached career high for innings pitched so no need overworking this guy and getting him hurt when he has nothing left to prove this season.
Too many young arms getting blown out because managers and coaches are overworking them.

Glad to hear it, I figured he was way over his usual totals. In other news, Halladay's arm will fall off of his body sometime in late September.

Not only that, he's also more than proven that he can pitch and be dominant for a pretty large stretch of the season, sometimes even when he doesn't have his best stuff, which is really encouraging.

It also potentially gives the chance that Drabek gets a callup, even for just one start.

AA's saying a 20% year over year increase is the approach.  So, assuming he ends up at aroung 150 innings this year, we can look for him to be around the 180 range next year.

i only think drabek will be called up if they need to add him to the 40 man roster this summer. if hes still eligible to to stay in the minors without being risked to rule 5 draft, then I dont think we see him. Anyone know for sure??
